Many of the most important and famous pilots of both the First and Second World Wars flew from Suttons Farm and RAF Hornchurch. Pilots such as ‘Sailor’ Malan, Alan Deere, ‘Paddy’ Finucane and Robert Stanford Tuck were among ‘The Few’ whose heroics during The Battle of Britain saved the country from the threat of German invasion. Click on the link to the side to find out more about some of the pilots associated with RAF Hornchurch as well as the many British planes which flew from the airfield and the German planes which attacked it.
